lyrics
His musical career began as a real drummer in the group Tijucanos do Ritmo, formed in the Capuchin church near his home. Soon he passed to the guitar. At that time, Tim had the nickname Babulina, because of pronunciation Bop-A-Lena Ronnie Self.
In 1957 he founded the group The Sputniks, which was attended, among others, Roberto Carlos, Arlênio Silva, Edson Trindade and Wellington.
Between 1959 and 1963 he lived in the US.
In 1970 he recorded his first album, Tim Maia. In the following years it was characterized by the only other LP serial number on its name on the cover: (volume 2, 3 and 4). From 1975 to 1977, he has adhered to the doctrine Culture Racional, singing, in this period, Que Beleza and Rhodesia. Shortly after he returned to his favorite style of music, entering the market as great successes Descobridor dos Sete Mares and Me Dê Reason.
Tim Maia always had serious problems of obesity, also caused by the abuse of alcohol and cocaine: he died of generalized infection, due to the lowering of immunity barriers, in Niterói, 15 March 1998.
